The next 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is expected to arrive for next year’s model. As a more extreme track-focused version of the already quite powerful new 911 GT3, the 992-generation GT3 RS is expected to come with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine with at least 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft. torque. The six-speed manual offered in the GT3 is not expected to be used here. Instead, the seven-speed PDK dual clutch would probably be the only option.
What is clear, the GT3 RS will come with a large rear wing, a more aggressive aerodynamic package, an underbody cover, more powerful brakes, and a stiffer chassis. Unique RS wheels maybe.
Apart from a handful of large-scale automakers, like Mazda, everyone has turned to forced induction and downsizing in the last decade or so, but even those will be lost in two swishes of a sheep.
There are other automotive brands that are still working hard to keep the spirit of the internal combustion engine alive, and surprisingly raise the bar for EV technology at the same time.
The brand is Porsche, and it’s unlikely to leave old school fans without the object of their desire despite paradigm shifts happening around the world.
So it just so happens that the first half of 2022 will be one of the busiest periods ever for Porsche’s famed GT department, which is more like the skunkworks division in terms of truly spectacular projects.
With that in mind, the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) is being shaped to be absolutely spectacular, in every way.
What we mean by that is that it’s probably the most hardcore GT3 RS model in Zuffenhausen brand history, as it’s pretty much a given to being the fastest and possibly the last homologation specifically powered by a naturally aspirated engine screamer.
Another project set to be unveiled at roughly the same time next year is the first 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which will also have to rewrite the rules in its category using a similar powertrain approach which may be a detuned version of the 4.0-liter flat-six. in the ‘regular’ 911 GT3.
If a few days ago a Porsche 911 GT3 RS prototype was caught testing on the streets around Weissach, now Porsche is taking the sports car in Sweden for some serious cold weather testing. Even if under a lot of camouflage, it’s clear that Porsche is aiming to build the most radical and track-focused Porsche 911 GT3 and will most likely be aiming for a new Nurburgring lap record. Whether it works or not, we’ll find out in the summer of 2022 when the new GT3 RS should launch.

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Interior
The interior should be very similar to the GT3 although Porsche will definitely add some more unique RS-specific touches, like the badge. Additional weight saving measures are expected. Chances are, full disclosure won’t happen until sometime next year, not long after the GT3 hits dealerships.
2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Exterior
In the previous spy shots, we could see that Porsche will be using the new, more classic door handles in an attempt to help with more weight. But new images reveal that in fact the car will get a special door altogether. The front fender between the front wheel and the door is a sophisticated aero section that extends to the door.
The front bumper, front fenders and fenders are still camouflaged, so it’s hard to see the different rear and RS when compared to the standard GT3. What’s very clear is that the GT3 RS will get a large rear wing derived from enginesport and a bit of aggressive aero that will provide some serious downforce.
We’ve also heard a lot of talk about the RS logo. Porsche is going back to its roots and the RS will actually get the same RS logo as the first 911 2.7 RS from 1973.
The most notable change is the redesigned hood, which features two prominent vents. Elsewhere, we can see additional air holes in the front and rear fenders that pop up under the camo. The very large active wing dominates the rear and looks production ready. The new GT3 RS will benefit from a stiffer suspension and bigger brakes compared to the standard. Expect the braking and suspension systems to come with different settings and parts, as well as various aerodynamic improvements.
The 911 GT3 RS will come with a staggered wheel arrangement, involving 20-inch wheels at the front and 21 inches at the rear axle, and all four are center locks. Behind them is an increasing braking system that works to grip repeatedly on the appropriate pedal, regardless of speed, and then ask for more.
2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Engine
Powering the new GT3 RS will use the same 4.0-liter boxer-six engine as the GT3. The unit makes 502 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque in the GT3, but the RS will reportedly have around 540-580 hp. While the GT3 was offered with a six-speed manual transmission or a dual-clutch PDK transmission, we expect the new RS to only be offered with PDK like the current model.

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Release Date
As prototypes start releasing more camos, it’s possible the GT3 RS could debut later this year, but alleged engine certification issues could delay launch until next year. We are sure it will be worth the wait.
